Former Schoolteacher Finds Fulfilling Second Career with skoah Facial Shop Franchise

First of its kind in Ontario, skoah facials-only shop opens near Toronto

For skoah facial shop franchise’s newest owner, Sharon Landau, having a passion for her work ranked at the top of her list of criteria for a second career. A former schoolteacher, Sharon spent several decades as a stay-at-home mom. Once the kids were in high school and college, Sharon was ready for business ownership — but it had to be something she could vouch for with personal experience and enthusiasm.

“I wanted a business that I was confident was a sound investment of my time and money, but that also provided personal satisfaction,” explains Sharon. “I can’t sell a product or service unless I believe in it, so that’s what I was looking for. Health and wellness were definitely on my wish list.”

skoah fit the bill for Sharon. It provides the opportunity to focus on healthy living — but from a slightly different angle than one would imagine. “Fitness can be seen as a benefit to one’s health from the inside out, but we can also look at the benefits of health and wellness from the outside in. It’s important to take care of ourselves, and this is another important way to do that. Facial care can contribute to healthy skin and offer a sense of well being,” says Sharon.

Sharon is also eager to bring a new experience to her area of Canada. Her skoah facials-only shop will open in North Oakville, which is about 30 minutes west of Toronto and is the first of its kind in Ontario. Because there is little to no competition, and skoah offers such outstanding products and services, Sharon anticipates customers will receive her shop with open arms. “skoah is so much more than just a facial; it’s truly an experience,” says Sharon. “It can be a routine for escape, giving us a chance to relax and rejuvenate. At skoah, we only do facials, so our skincare trainers are experts. We offer the customizable facial experience, and we love to get to know our guests. Many are members, and so we can make their experience personal. I think that’s a unique value proposition.”

Having just recently opened her shop, Sharon anticipates success based on the reasons skoah attracted her in the first place. “We have great core values at skoah,” says Sharon. “When you focus on those, success is inevitable. When you offer something that’s genuine and authentic, it resonates with the people who come through our doors.”

Sharon says there’s never been a better time to open a skoah facials-only franchise. The demand is high in most communities across the U.S. and Canada, as people are longing for an affordable break from their harried, stress-filled schedules and for knowledge they can use to keep their skin healthy.

“Lives are hectic and busy,” says Sharon. “skoah gives that personal touch — a spot where people can relax with a massage and facial. They can also get educated about caring for their skin and ask questions they may not feel comfortable asking in a standard spa. Because we typically see our clients monthly, we’re better able to help them with their skin concerns. You may only visit a standard spa once or twice a year, at most.”
